Here is the latest news from the Vatican:
The Holy Doors for the 2025 Jubilee Year are now open. Our journalists and photographers have been busy capturing the stories and beautiful photos of these historic events.
On Christmas Eve, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica. On Christmas Day, the Holy Father delivered the Urbi et Orbi message and blessing, urging peace throughout the world.
On St. Stephen's Day, Pope Francis made history by opening the first Holy Door ever in Rome's largest prison — a powerful sign of hope to prisoners and a reminder to all of us to "never lose hope."
All five Holy Doors, including those at St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome's Cathedral of St. John Lateran, the Basilica of St. Mary Major, and the Basilica of St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, have now been opened. We thank you for accompanying us in prayer and encourage you to stay connected for more inspiring stories and updates.
We also ask you to pray for Pope Benedict XVI as we remember him on the second anniversary of his death, last December 31st. We spoke to those closest to him to reflect on his legacy and the profound impact he had on the Church.
Finally, explore how sacred music elevates the soul and preserves spiritual heritage through the International Festival of Sacred Music and Art in Rome.
As always, please make sure to join our upcoming live streams:
In Assisi for the 800th Anniversary celebrations of the Canticle of the Creatures, and, in the Vatican, for Pope Francis' celebration of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, followed by the Angelus Message.
